Teachers have one of the most rewarding — and challenging — professions in the United States. While they get to help shape young minds, inspire and encourage children and young adults, and play a pivotal role in their communities, teachers also face a number of stressors. Long hours, demanding curricula, lack of supplies and ongoing stress are only some of the issues that teachers throughout the country face. The COVID-19 pandemic has only accelerated and increased both the demands placed on teachers and the stress they feel. It’s not surprising, therefore, to learn that so many teachers are dealing with stress and anxiety.
